A Journey Back to Divine Connection
Why do we ask Google, when we have God?
Early May, on a serene Sunday morning, she rose before dawn, setting the stage for sacred communion. The room was tidied, every corner cleared of clutter, creating a sanctuary for just her and the Divine presence. The curtains parted, welcoming the first light of day, mingling with the soft glow of candlelight, casting a warm, inviting aura. A gentle breeze from the fan whispered through the room, bringing movement to the still air.
Amidst this tranquility, music was heard,“One Night in November” from Quietude by Andre Lefebvre. Released: 2000. Filling the silence, setting a reflective mood. The stage was set, but what was her intention? She sought a connection with God, a return to a time when her relationship with the divine was unshakable, vibrant.
She reminisced about moments of profound connection:
Standing before a full length mirror, she once waited patiently to see herself through God’s eyes: pure, flawless. It was a challenging exercise, requiring her to overlook every perceived imperfection, both inside and out, a process that spanned hours.
She called months spent pouring over a 1910 Websters New International Dictionary set, dissecting root words to deepen her understanding of scripture. Like a marathon runner savouring a sip of water, she absorbed knowledge, unable to quench her thirst for divine wisdom.
Vivid were the memories of Sunday worship in a small white church, a congregation of devout souls expressing their deepest yearnings and connecting with the divine in a realm free from chaos.
The practice of morning meditation, rising before dawn, embracing stillness, and allowing the divine spirit to permeate her being, grounding her in love.
These moments were he last true connection to the divine, a testament to a time when her faith was unyielding.
This particular morning sparked a longing in her to revisit that sacred space, to once again immerse herself in divine pursuit, even if it meant isolation. She yearned for the certainty of her identity, her belonging, and her beliefs.
The new year brought introspection, a questioning of her essence, a dwindling confidence. Life’s distractions severed her from her spiritual anchor, leaving her adrift.
In her search for healing, she turned to the internet, scouring various platforms for answers, yet finding none that resonated with her soul’s cry. It was a spiritual malaise, unresponsive to conventional remedies.
In a moment of clarity, she reached out to a woman, a stranger yet familiar in spirit, drawn by her medical expertise and devout heart. Her advice transcended anything found online: pray, seek God. It was a simple yet profound counsel, overlooked in her frantic search.
The internet, with its vast resources, serves as a reference, not a repository of Truth. True wisdom, tested and enduring, resides in the Word. Once, she measured all against this sacred standard, a practice she had abandoned, leading her astray.
Today, she resolves to return to her spiritual roots, seeking clarity and vision, embracing life’s challenges with grace, and elevating her gaze to the divine. She recalls that ultimate knowledge rests with God, not in the digital realm.
The day marks a significant personal milestone: the 10th day of her first Ramandan dry fast, a time of fasting and reflection, made challenging by the pandemic and stay-at-hoe orders. Despite the freedoms of remote work, life’s undane demands persisted. But today, she vows not to let another day slip by unnoticed. With ample time for prayer, reading and worship, she turns her heart towards the Word, choosing spiritual nourishment over digital distractions.
Today is the day I turn to face the Word of God instead of Google.
